Deep foundation systems consist of large diameter piles drilled to various depths. In some cases, large diameter piles are substituted with small capacity minipiles or with reinforced concrete barettes. Given the project’s requirements, Edrafor will propose the best-suited type of foundation system based on a three-step approach.
The first step includes the identification of the soils present on site along with geometric and environmental constraints such as working space, site access, noise, material and spoil movements, and groundwater.
The second step establishes the characteristics of the various piles. The structural loads and loads combinations are first assessed at the base of the various structural elements. Then, the pile diameter and layout are selected in view of the structural capacity of a pile, its durability, and any settlement limitation.
