Ground Anchoring

Ground anchors are an inherent part of any shoring project but are also used in other applications, such as pile testing, uplift elements, underpinning works, marine works, etc… Anchors are commonly considered as the backbone of special foundation works.

A ground anchor transmits axial tensile forces between the soil through its bonded length and its head fixed to the retaining structure via a bearing plate. The bonded length is usually placed away from the head and the transition length is the free length of the anchor.

Each active ground anchor is prestressed and tested before the structure they act upon is put in service.
